Yashwantpur is an industrial-cum-residential area located in the north western part of Bangalore City in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is close to areas like Malleswaram and Mathikere and the famous MS Ramaiah college and hospitals. It has a central bus stand providing connectivity to various parts of the city.

Holy Trinity Church, Bangalore

Holy Trinity Church, located at Trinity circle at the east end of the MG Road, is a major landmark in Bangalore. It was built in 1851, for the British Regiment stationed in Bangalore. Built in the English Renaissance style, the church can accommodate 700 people and is regarded as the largest "military" church in southern India.

East India Company decided to build a second church in Bangalore after protests from local English regiment in Bangalore. Bishop Corrie chose the spot of the church. The foundation stone was laid on February 16, 1848. The walls were lined with ornate marble murals and tablets, which spoke about great men and women who toiled for the church. Some of these statues were specially carved in England. Rev W W Lutyens designed the furnishing and embellishments. Mears Foundry of London cast the bell of the church, in 1847. The pulpit and pipe organ were also built in London. The pipe organ, though, was later sold to the Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church. The stained glass, depicting the baptism of Jesus in splendid color, and the baptismal pond were brought from London. Queen Victoria’s own West Kent Regiment presented the cross, in memory of those who died when the unit was based in Bangalore.

After Independence, the church was taken over by the Christian Indian Military personnel and their families. It was called Holy Trinity Garrison Pastorate then. In 1965, it was renamed as Holy Trinity Church, by the Mysore Diocese.

A short trip to Nandi Hills, Bangalore, Karnataka

Nandi Hills, a solid monolithic mass of granite and the best scenic hill station in the vicinity of Bangalore (60 Km away). Its height is about 4,851 feet above MSL and acquires an area of 97 acres.

Nandi Hills is the birth place of rivers Arkavathi and Palar. The temperature range at Nandi Hills is about 25 to 28 Degree Celsius during summer and 8 to 10 Degree Celsius in winter. At Nandi Hills we can see Rain-fall of 100 to 150cms every year. Mahatma Gandhiji has stayed for 45 days for his health revival at this place.

You can visit this place at any time of the year. In the rainy season it is extremely wet on the hill. A summer visit will make you spell bound. It's best if you are on top of the hill before sunrise. The wind, fog and clouds that blow towards you in the morning is just amazing. To be on top of the hill by 5:30AM, you need to leave Bangalore at before 3AM.

Bangalore to Nandi Hills by Bus All buses leave from Bangalore's central bus station "Bangalore Majestic" or "Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS)". As this is a local bus, tickets (charge around 46/- per head) are sold directly in the bus.

Bangalore to Nandi Hills directions-> From Hebbal flyover take NH7 and take a left diversion (about 10km after passing by BIAL airport flyover) with a signboard in English "Nandi Hills 22 km". There is another left just before it but that leads to a factory. Around 7 km after the BIAL flyover towards Nandi hill across the highway, you can see a fort / birth place of Tippu Sultan.
